Expresses a guess or inference based mainly on information the speaker has heard.

Structure

Plain form + らしいな-adjective / N + らしい

Examples

    ロベルトは、来年、ブラジルに帰るらしい。

    ロベルトは、らいねん、ブラジルにかえるらしい。

    Roberuto wa, rainen, Burajiru ni kaeru rashii.

    I hear Roberto is going back to Brazil next year.

    ノーイは、タイに恋人がいるらしい。

    ノーイは、タイにこいびとがいるらしい。

    Nooi wa, Tai ni koibito ga iru rashii.

    I hear Noi has a boyfriend in Thailand.

Sets the deadline by which an action must be completed.

Examples

    あしたまでに、きっぷをよやくします。

    Ashita made ni, kippu o yoyaku shimasu.

    I will reserve the ticket by tomorrow.

    Goji made ni, hon o kaeshite kudasai.

    Please return the book by five.

Expresses that something is naturally visible or audible without deliberate effort.

    Kono apaato kara, densha ga tooru no ga mieru.

    From this apartment, I can see the trains passing by.
